Math

We are going to be starting our last chapter in our math and it is working with 2-digit addition.  This is going to be very exciting for the students.  They are really working hard on their math and are coming along.  

It is clear that the class has been getting extra practice at home counting money.  When the students have been getting paid their salaries each week in our community they have been counting their money and paying their bills all on their own.  They also did a nice job spending it at our store!

Writing Workshop

We are starting a new unit in writing workshop that we will be learning how to put together non-fiction writing.  This will be a nice change from the small moments we have been working so hard on all year. 

Science

The last science kit of the year is called Organisms.  We will be observing everything from seeds to guppies.  Always a first grade favorite.

Pen Pals

All year, as a class, have been writing to first graders from Hughes School.  We now each have our own pen pal that we are writing to and what makes thsi a special writing experience is that at the end of the year we will plan a trip to meet them.   

Our class will be celebrating Valentine’s Day on February 14 at 2:30.  We did not have anyone sign up to bring in a snack, treat or do a project/game with the students.  If you are interested please let me know.

The children are welcome to bring cards for their friends.  If they choose to do this, they need to bring one for each student.  Here is our class list
